Cut And Fit Guttering




To start, fit a gutter bracket close to the top of the fascia board at one end of the propsed run (should be the opposite end of the stop end outlet, if one is fitted).
Attach a builder's line or length of string on the base of the bracket. Waltham Forest Plumbers are experts in plumbing work. To locate the gutter outlet in an accurate way, hold a plumb line up against the fascia right over the drain. Make a mark for the correct the position on the fascia using a pencil. Fix the gutter outlet no more than 50mm under the level of the roof tiles, using the manufacturer's guidance notes regarding the size and amount of screws. Pull the string or builder's line out from the bracket and along the fascia board and tie it onto the outlet. With a spirit level, check that the string is sloping down towards the outlet, it should have a slight fall (around 10mm for every 6mtr of guttering), but although this is not essential, it will really help the water to drain properly. A Waltham Forest Plumber is qualified to install all appliances. Make the marks for the location of the other brackets, with a space of no more than 1metre between and no more than 150mm away from a joint or fitting. Where the outlet is positioned in the centre of the gutter, repeat this process with a bracket at the other end of the gutters run so that it can also slope towards the outlet. Now fit the remaining brackets. Fix a stop end to the initial length of gutter and then clip the gutter into place on the brackets. A simple way is to tilt the gutter to fit under the back clip and then straighten it up under the front clip. Line up the gutter end with the insertion depth mark on the bracket. Secure a union piece at the opposite end of the first piece and screw it into the fascia, now fit the next piece of gutter into it. Continue this process. Finally, cut the last section to fit with a hacksaw and fit a stop-end. Visually inspect all the joints and confirm they are in line with the insertion depth marks on the fittings.
